Get ready folks. The Northwest Sweet 16 is back. Returning to its home at Washington Hall, 2017 will mark the 10 year anniversary of the Northwest Sweet 16. More info coming soon, check out the event page HERE.
Ah what an amazing year. Want to thank the whole Outshine team for all the countless hours you’ve put in. Also to all the Sweet 16 contestants and b-boys that came to support. Congrats to Tim the Pitt (Massive Monkees Crew) for finally taking first place, and Stedlove (Mighty Zulu Kingz) for 2nd. Big ups to Dance Broomz/Red Eye Jedi for winning the crew comp, and Hoodz for taking second. Peep the finals below!
Well, after much confusion on dates and venues, we have locked it down. This will be our 9th Northwest Sweet 16, and what a year it’s shaping up to be. We have new and old coming back into the bracket to prove their steez, plus out of state competitors to spice things up. New this year, was a prelim in the Southeast, put on by Frantic Chef from Dynamic Rockers. The winner of that competition was Stedlove from Mighty Zulu Kings. He will be the first out of region b-boy to compete in the NW Sweet 16 and we are all very excited to see how our b-boys stack up.
This year will also feature a 3v3 b-boy competition for $600 cash and prizes. Our venue and event information is all available on our event page HERE. Check it out, and be sure to buy presale tickets when they become available because this year will sell out.
So, the weekend is over, and boy what a weekend. We were very disappointed in the turnout for the event. This was probably our lowest turnout in the 8 years we’ve thrown this jam, but we’ve never tried to go head up against the Seattle summer, so shame on us. With that said, it was the best jam we’ve done as far as talent goes. A truly international jam with b-boys from Sweden, Italy, Columbia, Russia, California, and Japan. Awesome to see the cultures combine.
I’m sure you’d like to know the results, they are as follows:
Northwest Sweet 16 2015 Champ: Jbugz, Soul Felons, Vancouver BC
Runner up: Buckshot, Unleashed, Seattle WA
Crew Competition Champions: Massive Monkees, Seattle WA
Crew Competition Runner Up: Breakadelics, Sweden
All Style Crew Champions: Fly Girls, Canada
All Style Crew Runner Up: Hoshito International, Japan/Italy/Sacramento
Highlights for us included Jbugz vs Buckshot in the finals, super sick to see a clash of the new school and old school NW b-boys. Massive Monkess battling Sweden was one of the best battles I’ve seen period. Fly Girls were incredibly prepared. Their routines would have smashed on any crew that we’ve had in the past.
Footage to come soon, we will populate as soon as we can:

I haven’t been this excited for a bracket in a long time. This year’s bracket will be full of surprises with new and returning faces. Several notables include Tim the Pitt’s return, our first ever champion’s return (Junior), Jbugz, and Vital. We will have a bracket that you can fill out at the event, with the winner receiving a cash prize.
The Northwest Sweet 16 2015 is almost upon us. June 27th and 28th, please be sure to add that to your schedule. Can’t believe it’s the 8th year. The last couple years have been incredibly awesome. 700+ people, b-boys from all over, cyphers, hype battles, and a vibe that’s full of love. Just the way a dope underground jam should be. This year will feature our first non Northwest b-boy, Neato, who won the Seattle open prelim, as well as returning champions. Please share with your friends!

All right folks here we go.
First off, thank you to everyone who supported this weekend. It meant a lot to me and Andrew Oledan for you to be there. Shout out to Lars Soulrane Sverre for laying down the beats and simply killin it all night long. For the all styles, it really doesn’t get any better than Huy Pham Computer Fam. Playing some cuts, but also some challenge songs. “I’m gonna challenge you”, what a dork. Big thanks to all of our judges for making tough calls all night long. Hieu Pham, Marcus Sharpe, Alfredo Free, Byron Jay Donaldson, and Nolan for the b-boys, and Aj Heavyhittaz, Maezing Calinisan, Nathan Tic Tock Washington, Brandon Knowbody Greathouse, and Donna DonnaMation Oefinger.

5v5 All Style:

WIthout a doubt, this was the best Sweet 16 we have ever had. Almost every battle was hype or had some memorable moment. Mathieu Lost Child with the smooth style, his first battle against John Riddelz was a nice battle of unique get downs. Ash Cornette had some killer rounds, but when does he not? Serg vs Philip Kim round 1 was also another incredibly sick match up. Jalen Testerman Killed it in his first time at the Sweet 16, and Beany GerardoandBrooke Guzman definitely showed the NW how serious he was. Last but not least Boxcutta putting it down with incredibly intricate footwork sets all night long, and Thesis simply murdering the beats and putting down his usual crazy moves.
